This series of articles of “Kuwait: No More (add something people like here) For You” will go on forever as long as the extremists are in the Kuwaiti Parliament. Today, Hayef, asked for the ban of shisha. Simple as that. Of course I won’t go on to rant about how what the extremists are doing is ridiculous and needs to stop, and how that our freedom is dieing, because I already did that in the previous “Kuwait: No More (add something people like here) For You” article.

If you’re going to start with, “Shisha is bad, so it’s good that they are banning it.” Then you’re going to open too many doors for your freedom to be kidnapped from. Drinking soda is bad too, would you love them to ban Pepsi? How about they ban sweets since they contain too much sugar? You get the idea.

I don’t like Shisha my self, but this is plain wrong. This song is fitting for our state in Kuwait, “Now come one come all to this tragic affair, wipe off that makeup what’s in is despair.” – My Chemical Romance, rock band. I leave you with the song:

I was relaxing in the garden when some guy in a Lexus CS called for me. I went over to him and he appeared to be a friend of my father. We kept chatting then he asked me about where a certain family member lives, I told him I’m not sure. He said, “He’s your family and you don’t know where he lives? You suck!” He also motioned at me with his hand! I don’t even know the guy! “I suck?” I asked. It wasn’t even his business! I didn’t say something offensive to him because he’s way older than me. But I told him, “You really shouldn’t have said that. How can you allow your self to say that?” He smiled nervously and said, “I’m like your father, come on. Are you really mad?” Then looked away and kept quiet. I said, “Not even my father would say that to me.” He said, “Your father is a great man, he devoted a lot to this country. Please say hi to him for me and…” Before he could speak anymore I said, “You’re welcome, bye.” Then I walked away. Of course I would avoid him if I see him again.

He was apparently a friend of my father but not related to us, but he knew many of my family members. Yet since I wasn’t sure of who he was I kept feeding him false information about everything. About where I study, about my brother, the whole family. Everything. When he said, “You suck.” I thought telling him lies was the right thing to do, hehe.

I’ve been collecting information about the local rock scene, I have also contacted some key people in the Kuwaiti rock community, people that were part of it when it all started and went off like a bomb years ago. But I’m also interested in gathering even more information for the complex, long, detailed and complete essay that I’m writing regarding rock in Kuwait. I’ll be releasing the article here on my blog when it’s done. I want it to be a reference for all those who wish to know about rock and the gothic community in Kuwait since it’s beginning.

The rock scene in Kuwait has many great people, great bands and a pretty long and complex history, and deserves a detailed essay such as the one I’m writing and working on. As for those who don’t like rock or gothic music. Take it easy, it’s just a type of music and a subculture, it doesn’t bite. It’s really misunderstood.

Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, in 2007 said,  “Java’s not worth building in. Nobody uses Java anymore. It’s this big heavyweight ball and chain.” Yet Steve Jobs seems to be contradicting himself, since one of the programs he’s fond of, which is Google Maps, is based on Java. So what is Java exactly? I think it would be good for you to have an idea about a programming language that is being widely used and has been the key to the success of great programs such as Google Maps. Even NASA’s Mars Rovers Mission was powered partly by Java.

Java is a programming language. It was called Oak in 1991 after an oak tree that was outside of the office of it’s creator, James Gosling. Later on it was renamed as Java. It’s influenced by C/C++, which are other programming languages. The aim of that was to make it easy for developers to move from the other programming languages into Java.  It’s easier to learn Java than it is to learn other programming languages, it has a better library which helps make better programs, and It’s also great for making games, even games that require networking.

In 1995 Java 1.0 was released, web browsers used it for it’s features which included configurable security, network and file access restrictions and being quite secure. In 1998 new versions of Java were released including a version for mobiles. From that day on Java has been used for most mobile phones, except iPhone which doesn’t support neither Java nor Flash. The iPhone interestingly has it’s own SDK (software development kit) which programmers can use to develop applications for it. BlackBerry on the other hand is in love with Java, it’s used to make applications for the BlackBerry, to make games or whatever else a programmer wants to make. I for one am using Java to develop an App for the BlackBerry.

Overall, Java’s great library, capability and being supported by most devices and web browsers makes it a beauty in the programming world. Java is also portable, which means if you develop a computer program in Java language it would run on any other hardware or operating system that supports it. Even though Java programs require more memory and are slower than programs written in other languages it’s speed had improved since the introduction of Just-in-time compilation technique that improved the run time of programs written in Java by caching the results of translating blocks of code. So with that out of the way we can confidently say: “Viva la Java.”

The extremists in the Kuwaiti Parliament don’t want music in education. They are done from segregating females and males and making music concerts almost impossible to make, now it’s time to attack the subjects they don’t like. Maybe they will decide to ban American Politics later on for explaining the American system and how America is a democratic country and a land of freedom. Then maybe they will attack Sociology for teaching students about human emotions such as love, and how actions such as flirting come to be and why.

Then when they’re full from eating the educational system, maybe they will decide to hit the entertainment as usual, banning women who don’t wear hijab from appearing on TV or in commercials, or then maybe enforcing segregation between actors like they did in universities theaters and enforce the law outside universities and on all theaters, making males play the roles of females when females are needed, and banning males from attending the plays where females are acting. This might sound absurd right now, but even segregation in universities, closing coffee shops after midnight and banning music subjects from schools sounded absurd years ago. But now it’s a reality, it’s only a matter of time.

The extremists in Kuwait found that anything they want can happen, such as enforcing segregation on universities and closing coffee shops whenever they want. So they decided to turn our country into a land of extremism. If the country is to be left in the mercy of those, then the country is for sure gone, and democracy and freedom will be a thing of the past. They are misusing the democracy that was given to them, and we are still waiting for someone to stop them, but we still see nobody yet, and I doubt that we will see anyone anytime soon.

I started developing an app for BlackBerry. I can’t go into the details of the idea, but it’s something related to art, knowledge and culture. Art is not getting enough attention from people in Kuwait, and that is what sparked the idea behind this project. The idea is simple and basic, so I hope it won’t be a rough programming for me. It will be a nice experiment for me as well as a Computer Science student. The Art App Widget on the sidebar of my blog will keep you updated with this project and it’s development. The official name will be released when the app is complete.

The tower will become the tallest building in Kuwait and one of the top 10 tallest towers of the world, it will also be the tallest sculpted tower in the world. Al-Hamra Tower which is a 412 meters tall tower with 77 floors and located in Kuwait City started in 2005, and a few months from now it will finally be complete and open for use.

The tower will include 100 thousand m2 of commercial and office space. It is connected to a retail mall which is 23 thousand m2 in space and include a theater complex and a 11-levels parking lot. Al-Hamra tower will also include a rooftop restaurant and a spa. The mall will include 10-screen cinema complex which will also include IMAX theaters.

The south wall is made to protect the building from heat by decreasing solar radiation through the geometry of the interior wall. The amazing design was made by Skidmore, a Chicago-based architectural and engineering firm formed in 1936.

In 2014 an amazing treatment that will give great hope to all cancer patients and save many lives will become available for use. The treatment increases the death of cancer cells and stops them from growing back.

In addition to killing cancer cells and suppressing tumor cells’ defenses which makes them more vulnerable to radiotherapy, the treatment also has other benefits. Cancer patients are mostly treated with radiation, that radiation kills cancer cells but also destroys healthy cells, which causes side effects such as vomiting, loss of hair and many more. The new treatment stops that from happening.

The treatment stops hair loss for cancer patients and stops them from feeling sick and fatigue. The American scientists from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine who discovered this treatment found that the treatment keeps the body’s own immune cells safe and healthy. The treatment also improves blood flow in cells, which can defend healthy cells and makes cancer cells vulnerable to the body’s natural defenses.

“We couldn’t believe what we were seeing.” Dr. Jeff Isenberg, the chief author said. Further more, Dr. Ester Hammond, a Cancer Research UK scientist at the University of Oxford said “Future work will undoubtedly shed more light on this and could lead to new treatments for cancer patients.”

No more hair loss and side effects for cancer patients, and higher chances for being cured of cancer. Truly hopeful, we hope to see more of these great discoveries and breakthroughs.

Al-Watan newspaper and TV is pampering Kuwaiti bloggers recently, interviewing them and adding articles about some bloggers and their posts and adding links to their posts on their website. I hope this doesn’t stop some bloggers from saying the truth about them and about their twisted ways in reporting. If you are going to thank them about the exposure they are giving to your blogs then you are obliged to also criticize them for their way of reporting that causes problems inside the country.

Al-Watan newspaper is always playing the boss in Kuwait, saying what’s wrong and what’s not. First they complained about coffee shops and now all coffee shops are closed after midnight even the ones which have nothing wrong going on inside of them. Then today they are complaining about the restaurants road, saying that boys are chasing girls there, and that it’s a spot where reckless people hang out and that it’s crowded. How is that a problem? They are just giving the extremists some material to use against the people of Kuwait, God knows what extremist law they are going to enforce on the people based on this absurd story. Boys chase girls everywhere and at all times, and all Kuwait’s streets are crowded, and what’s their definition exactly of “reckless people” here? I believe it’s something like the “Negative Phenomena Committee” which has no exact definition of what it means by “negative” so that it can boss people around without any red lines restricting it from invading other people’s personal freedom and privacy.

Only recently there was the incident of a female college student in Keifan university being kicked outside of the class by the instructor only because she wasn’t wearing a hijab. It’s absurd what the country is coming into day by day. In Saudi Arabia they made a new university where there is no segregation between females and males, and in Kuwait the extremists have enforced it on the students only recently. The same thing with everything else, countries around us move ten steps ahead and we move twenty back. It’s sad. Our fate is truly mysterious and unknown. When and how can this fall into the abyss end?

The people in Kuwait are in great divide, ending the fall is possible but only if the people stand as one. Newspapers and some people are causing confusion and turning groups against each other in the country, you need to see through the obvious and stand against those who wish the worst for you.
