What’s wrong and right is defined by society. Morals change with time as society’s belief of what’s right and wrong changes. But there are constant morals that two people wouldn’t argue over. Some of these constant morals are revenge, destroying families, spreading lies about someone to stain their name and the name of their family, and so on. Envy is an emotion which one has when one lacks what the other person or group of people have, from quality, to achievement or possession and wishes for the other person or group to lack it. In order to make the other person or group of people lack it, one either replies to one’s feeling of envy positively by working hard to have what the other person or group of people have, or negatively by making the other person or group of people lack it, or by doing both together. Like any other feeling such as hunger, one feels good when they tame their envy the same way they feel when they tame their hunger by eating. Also, the same way one might over eat to over tame hunger and feel even more satisfied, one might also over do it to over tame their envy and feel even more satisfaction. The same way that eating can turn into an addiction, taming envy can also turn into an addiction, and that’s where it can lead to destruction. One can end up destroying other people’s lives, ending their marriages, making them lose their possessions and the quality they have by spreading lies or rumors, or by turning their loved ones against them only to tame their envy. One might think that envy is a small issue, a casual harmless emotion. But when one looks deeper into this feeling, one can easily see that envy leads to destruction.
