The meaning of life

March 7, 2008

You’re born into a family you didn’t choose for yourself, you do good, and you sin, you love something, hate some other things, and sometimes you hurt people. Sometimes people love you, some other times they hate you, and some other times they hurt you. You fall in love, then fall out of it, some other times you fall in and never fall out, but yet it’s not what you want. You get a disease and feel scared for your health and life. You live, you work, you get a family, maybe you don’t raise a family, you might die young, you might die very old and lonely. But you also might die a hero, you might die satisfied and you might not. You might believe in heaven and hell, and you might not, you try to do what you have to do to make it to heaven. You find things like racism, politics and ask yourself who’s right and who’s wrong. You see that things are messed up, you try to enjoy your life, you try to reach a dream, you live somewhere, but you might believe that living somewhere else is the right and better thing to do, so you live outside your home country, trying to find that perfect life, trying to find a meaning.

But even though life is full of things we can never understand, some things we will never know, some people we will never meet, places we will never go, things we will never say, a perfect life we will never have, satisfaction we will never reach, money and luxury we’ll never enjoy, things we will never do, despite all of that if you one day meet the right person all of those things and questions in your life, death and pain and everything, all of those things will matter no more, and all that you’d want is to be with that someone, at anytime, in any place, and under any condition. That someone would be your life, that someone would be the meaning of your life, and once you’ve find that someone you’ll feel that you have finally won, you wouldn’t want anything in life but that someone, and if one day that someone dies, then you’ll be alright, cause that someone would’ve made you strong enough to face anything and carry on, and that will be the happy ending of your life, the meaning of your life.

Nice, but meeting the perfect partner is not the greatest thing on earth. Actually it can be the most painful thing. Sooner or later you have to separate. YOu would not be so happy when that happens? In fact, because you would be so miserable, you might regret that you ever met that person. You might say, “what i though was my greatest good fortune, in fact, turned out to be my greatest misfortune.”

frank i’m sad you didn’t read the whole post till the end: “and if one day that someone dies, then you’ll be alright, cause that someone would’ve made you strong enough to face anything and carry on, and that will be the happy ending of your life, the meaning of your life.”

I really enjoyed this post up until the a certain “someone” emerged. I definitely think that you portrayed the meaning of life in a perfect manner. Because life is fleeting and all you can really do is just “do”. If you know what I mean. I do believe in finding someone special but I don’t necessarily think that it is as life altering as you say. Maybe I’m a pessimist because I have not found this aforementioned someone or maybe it’s because I have. Either way, what I’m trying to say is great post! :-)

thank you, i’m glad you liked the post, i always think that if there was someone in my life who’s always beside me, helping me, guiding me, loving me, saving me, putting joy in my heart, tells me that everything will be alright, fights my fears and keeps me safe, catches me when i fall and helps me to stand back tall then i can’t help but feel that a certain “someone” can really alter my life
